Birthing Autism

According a news clipping I read, the developing fetal brain is vulnerable to autism development. Research studies point to a number of prenatal factors that can lead to the development of autism: thyroid levels, urine iodine, diabetes, high blood pressure, fetus being born early or small, and labor inducement. Other factors include: older parents, proximity of birth after another sibling, exposure to certain pollutants or diseases.

Modern diseases and medical intervention affects the body in ways we haven’t fully researched yet. The research shines a light on some ways to a healthier pregnancy however, the article states: “autism is now regarded as a collection of conditions with similar traits but different causes”.
